Hope Rescue Mission is a Christian organization that has operated in Reading since 1894. Hope provides for the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of men in need providing a hand up, not a hand out. It is a place of refuge for the homeless men of Berks County, offering four residential programs that men can work their way through to transition back into the community as productive and independent individuals. Hope receives no government funding. Hope Rescue Mission is a safe and secure environment where the men hear God's word, learn work and life skills, and look forward to a better life in Christ. Hope subscribes to the AGRM Statement of Faith. On an annual basis and with the partnership of 1,000+ individual volunteers, Hope provides 59,000+ meals, 47,000+ bed nights, 365 Christ-centered chapel services, 260 morning devotionals, 208 discipleship classes, 1,200+ individual mentorship meetings and over 300 Christian counseling sessions. Hope is a 501c3 non-profit, non-denominational, Christian outreach that is an associate member of the Association of Gospel Rescue Mission and an accredited member of the Evangelical Council on Financial Accountability. The Hope Rescue Mission will lead the community in providing vocational, social service, health and spiritual programs to develop community partnership solutions to homelessness.

Since 2014, St. Paul’s has been partnering with Hope Rescue Mission as our youth group and members of St. Paul’s Adult III Sunday School class visit the mission regularly, serving meals, bringing desserts, leading worship services, and interacting with the residents. We also have a clothing collection bin for the mission in our parking lot and collect toiletries to take as well. On several occasions St. Paul’s has welcomed Hope Rescue Mission director, Rob Turchi, to speak with us about the mission. Often he will bring a man with him to share his testimony about how God has used the mission to change his life.
